VPM is a public media organization serving Central Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley. Since 2019, VPM has produced audio programming that includes The VPM Daily Newscast and RVA’s Got Issues, along with the award-winning Admissible: Shreds of Evidence, Track Change and Seizing Freedom.
We are looking for a creative and engaging communications professional to facilitate internal and external support for the podcasts produced by VPM. As the Podcast Coordinator, you will serve as the key liaison between the podcast department and other critical teams within the organization, including marketing & communications, digital, IT, and development. This role is vital in ensuring smooth communication and collaboration across departments to support the growth and success of our podcasts. You will also be responsible for managing internal tools and software involved in hosting, distributing and reporting on the performance of our podcasts. This is not a production role.

Responsibilities
• Coordinates communication, workflow and deliverables between VPM departments involved in promotion, marketing, distribution and development of all active VPM podcasts.
• Acts as primary point of contact for external partners for podcast support (distribution, public relations, sponsorship, etc.).
• Creates, organizes, maintains and shares relevant project assets with key stakeholders.
• Researches, vets and supports the implementation of new tools and subscriptions.
• Manages the technical implementation and reporting of podcast programs, including episode publication and performance monitoring.
• Coordinates with IT team to set up project-specific subsites for new podcasts.
• Supports efforts to connect local communities with podcast hosts and/or programming.
Desired Skills:
• Basic understanding of project management and/or audience development best practices. At least 3 years of relevant experience with how content is successfully created, funded and promoted in a public media organization is a plus.
• High proficiency with digital media and an eagerness to learn and adopt new/emerging platforms. Experience with Office 365, Megaphone, Airtable and/or WordPress is a plus.
• Demonstrated success overseeing the development, production and launch of podcasts or other digital-first projects.
• Commitment to championing local content that reflects the diversity of our communities.
• Ability to work well independently as well as within a team of creative professionals.
• Strong journalistic judgment and integrity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, time management and organization.
