VPM is hiring an Associate Producer for RVA’s Got Issues, a news/public affairs podcast that explores political/societal issues impacting Richmond and the surrounding region. The podcast also features guests who are working to make a difference in their communities. Rich Meagher, a Political Science professor at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, hosts the podcast.
The Associate Producer’s responsibilities are as follows:
• Attend and pitch ideas at planning meetings.
• Research, contact and pre-interview potential guests.
• Write interview notes and suggested questions for Host.
• Assemble compositions in Descript.
• Draft social copy for episode posts and share with VPM staff.
• Deliver final episode and transcript files, ad location timestamps and metadata with VPM Staff for publishing.
• Gather vox-pop and other 3rd party audio when needed.
• Operate the recording board at VPM’s studios when needed.
• Assist in videotaping interviews when needed.
This is an independent contractor position. Most of the work can be done remotely. However, the Associate Producer must live in the Richmond area to record interviews at VPM. Pay is $1150/week. Start date is January 6, 2025 and the contract continues through June 2025.
