A mixed-used development dubbed the North End at Innsbrook, is step closer to development. Last week, planning officials approved plans for the 22-acre project at Nuckols Road and Interstate 295.

Planning documents show the site would establish a new, “retail village,” with a mix of retailers, office buildings and multifamily developments.

The development plans were submitted a year ago by Northland, a Massachusetts-based firm that bought the site in 2022.

New Kent will receive an eight-figure boost towards a project to configure Exit 211 on Interstate 64 into a diverging diamond interchange and alongside other infrastructure improvements.

The upgrades coincide with companies like Target and Autozone investing in distribution centers in the area. The Texas-based convenience store chain Buc-ee’s is planning to open a location nearby.

Reported by Jack Jacobs

Gild and Ash, a home goods and accessories retailer, plans to move from its shared storefront on the corner of Libbie and Patterson Avenue, to the River Road Shopping Center II.

The small business’s former building is soon to make way for a four-story, mixed-use project.
