A free, mobile health care clinic providing desperately needed services in Southwest Virginia has just received a $1 million grant to help them to expand their work in Appalachia.

For almost 40 years, the Health Wagon has provides health care to underserved communities.  Now, thanks to the grant from the United Health Foundation, they will be able to expand their services providing free mammography, ultra-sound, X-ray and dental services in Southwest Virginia.

Democratic Senator Mark Warner was in Wise County for the ceremonies.

"  This is the most valuable mobile medical clinic in all of America," said Warner. "It provides great service to folks all across Southwest  Virginia."

It is a three-year grant for the only free clinic operating in a six-county area of southwest Virginia, providing care to people in the mountains through two mobile health units, outreach events and two stationary clinics.
