Delegate Carter Working Remotely Due To Death Threat Fears

Democratic Delegate Lee Carter of Manassas
Democratic Delegate Lee Carter of Manassas stays home as thousands of gun rights advocates are expected to gather in and around the capitol.

With thousands of gun rights protesters expected on Capitol Square, Democratic Delegate Lee Carter of Manassas says he’ll be working from a remote location instead of coming to the state Capitol.

Carter says he’s received death threats recently as people online have tied him to conspiracy theories about gun confiscation. Some of those people, he says, will be in Richmond.

“There’s going to be a lot of armed groups roaming around the streets of Richmond, and a lot of members of those armed groups have discussed, in very specific detail, how they want to murder me.” 15 sec

Carter says he doesn’t think he will be the only member missing the meeting.

A spokesperson for House Democrats wouldn’t comment on whether other representatives are avoiding the Capitol.
