Henrico has more than 1,100 subsidized, low-income apartment communities where residents may not be able to pay the rent. Eric Leabough, the director of Community Revitalization for Henrico, said, "People lost their wages or lost hours or were not able to work as a result of the impact of COVID 19."

Leabough says the county has set aside about $360,000 for rental assistance, another $175,000 for shelters.  There is also money for mental health, mobile grocery delivery, micro businesses and COVID testing. "We’ve funded about 17 different organizations and if they are interested in a particular program, they should reach out to those organizations directly," he said.

Leabough says the money should be available within two weeks.
