Senate Republicans Tout Bills to Improve Healthcare

The Virginia Senate Republican Caucus has announced that healthcare reform will be the focal point of their legislative agenda for the 2019 General Assembly session.

Virginia Republicans will reintroduce three bills during the upcoming session, that Senator Ryan McDougle of Hanover says will make healthcare more accessible to Virginians.

“As a unit we’re very focused on working to lower cost for healthcare coverage, to increase options for our constituents who have healthcare coverage, and making sure that competition in the marketplace, it’s one of our top priorities,” McDougle said.

Governor Ralph Northam vetoed the GOP’s insurance bills last May, saying they would undercut efforts to expand affordable healthcare. But Republican senators say the bills will be revised to secure coverage options provided under the Affordable Care Act.
