We are currently seeking an Accounting Associate to help support the day-to-day financial operations of VPM Media Corporation (VPM) and its affiliated entities.
This role performs a variety of accounting and administrative functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, donor revenue processing, financial reporting, and audit preparation. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and committed to maintaining accurate financial records while supporting the organization’s mission. This position reports to the Controller and works closely with the Staff Accountant to ensure the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions and safeguarding of organizational assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in member and major gifts processing with cash, checks, and online payments
- Reports membership and major gifts receivable to the Development / Philanthropy team to ensure proper recording
- Posts certain financial transactions accurately using accounting software
- Produces a variety of financial ad-hoc reports for accounting and management
- Assists in accounts receivable (sponsorship) invoicing, monitoring aging reports and collections
- Assists in accounts payable processing and posting invoices to accounting software
- Checks for accuracy in reports, figures, and postings
- Reconciles and reports of any discrepancies found in the records
- Assists with tax payments and filing
- Maintains VPM’s financial filing system
- Assists Accounting team with year-end and audit preparation
- Completes payroll duties as assigned
- Provides back-up support for other Accounting staff as needed
- Reviews all accounting information for any errant charges, reversals, or withdrawals from company funds
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- At least two (2) years of accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or related administrative experience
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations
- Proficiency in computer skills and Microsoft Office
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to foster and maintain business and client relationships
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to explain and interpret fiscal-related policies and general accounting
- Ability to provide the highest level of customer service
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with nonprofit accounting
- Experience supporting audits and financial reporting processes
- Excellent interpersonal skills
