Ahmad Damen is an editor for All Things Considered based in Washington, D.C. He first joined NPR's and WBUR's Here & Now as an editor in 2024. Damen brings more than 15 years of experience in journalism, with roles spanning six countries.
Fluent in English and Arabic, he has written and edited for publications in both languages. His work spans breaking news, long-form narratives, investigations and documentaries, drawing on expertise in both American and Middle Eastern history and politics.
Storytelling is at the heart of Damen's work. In journalism, his podcasts have earned a Webby Award, a Signal Award and a nomination for an AIB award for best factual podcast. In the arts, he is a professional musician and composer. He has also taught oud and music theory, believing that good teaching means making complex musical ideas understandable and engaging for everyone. He brings that same curiosity to his reviews of board and video games for NPR. [Copyright 2025 NPR]
