On this 5th edition of JAMinc Presents Page’s Kitchen, we’ll be serving up some of his very favorite brand of "purebred American mongrel music"…some seriously swampy stuff from down Louisiana way.

In the second half hour we’ll hear from the anointed son of the late zydeco king Clifton Chenier, C. J. Chenier and his Red Hot Louisiana Band. But we begin with the rollicking two-fisted piano and the lets-get-this-party-started vocals of Marcia Ball.

Texas born and Louisiana bred, and a regular RVA visitor over the years, this two-time Blues Music Awards Pinetop Perkins Piano Player honoree and a member of the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame brought a cookin’ three-piece band into the kitchen for this set, actually recorded at Shockoe Bottom’s Floodzone Studio in January of 1990. This bunch felt right at home in the Chickahominy Swamp. Get your dancing shoes on and join us for a lively hour of music and conversation, with Marcia Ball and the Crown Prince of zydeco, C.J. Chenier.
