Henrico County

Planning Commission
6 p.m. Thursday
Henrico Courts Building
4309 E. Parham Road

Henrico will continue its meeting on the county’s 2045 comprehensive plan. The planning commission was scheduled to vote on the draft plan on June 11, but the vote was deferred after numerous residents raised concerns over the long-term growth document during the public hearing process.

One major point of contention of the plan includes a new proposed zoning classification and overlay for rural parts of the county. The A-2 district is intended to maintain a lower-density rural character in specific parts of the county by increasing minimum lot size and width requirements for new subdivisions.

Although existing homes, farming activities and other permitted A-1 uses may continue unchanged, residents argue the proposal could decrease the value of residential properties.

Revisions to the proposal will be presented at Thursday’s meeting.

Hanover County

No scheduled meetings.
