Pianist Olga Kern is often recognized as one of her generation’s great artists. She serves as the Virginia Arts Festival's Connie & Marc Jacobson Director of Chamber Music. This coming Sunday (May 7th), Olga will perform a recital at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts in Virginia Beach, honoring the 150th anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninoff's birth. This will kick off a few weeks of chamber music concerts at the festival.
Olga has been planning concerts for the Virginia Arts Festival since 2019. She recently talked with me about her musical background, which includes family ties to both Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Sergei Rachmaninoff.
