Chesterfield Schools Funding Gap May be Filled

At last Wednesday's Board of Supervisors Meeting, Director of Budget and Management Meghan Coates says she and Chief Finance Officer Cristina Berta of Chesterfields schools found a way to fill the almost 2-Million dollar gap.

However, she was not able to give specifics just yet.

“I’m still waiting for the board to give us a little bit of direction on which option to choose.”

That gap came when the General Assembly approved the state budget. Coates says she doesn’t foresee any cuts to the school budget and added that the county had a contingency set aside just in case. She added that some local sources will fill the hole but couldn’t elaborate on what those will be.

Coates says more information should come at the Audit and Finance committee meeting this Friday.
