Henrico County appears ready tonight to reboot its efforts to build a world class sports arena in the county, despite a setback in negotiations with the Richmond International Raceway.  Charles Fishburne reports.

Transcript:

Charles Fishburne:  County officials say an indoor arena can attract big tourist dollars every year.

Tim Foster:  About 33 million dollars to about 40 million dollars.

Fishburne:  But Deputy County Manager Tim Foster says it’s not just the money

Foster:  Well one of the big reasons we want to do this project is to provide our citizens with a place to be able to have indoor sports. Currently, we have a lot of outdoor sports capability with softball, baseball and soccer, and other outdoor sports. But we don’t have many places where we can have indoor sports.

Fishburne:   Tonight, the board is expected to ask the six original developers for new plans.

Foster: It would be a completely new site we would be looking at and this would give all six who had submitted previously an opportunity to look at some options we didn’t have before.
