Mayor Stoney says that by 2025 the city will have enough funding to install 33 miles of bike lanes.
“This has been my number one goal in terms of trying to be a multi-model community. And that is first protecting the rider and number two, connectivity.”
He says the money will come from Federal funds and not out of the city’s general fund. Stoney says there is a record amount of paving dollars in this year’s budget.
“We have the opportunity to also match those dollars together to create bike lanes and also smoother roads as well.”
Stoney says the new bike lanes will eventually connect the Fulton area to the planned Gilies Greenway and to Church Hill.
