Carvana Project in Chesterfield Gets Approval

Used car company Carvana was approved to build a new service center in Chesterfield Wednesday at the Board of Supervisors meeting. The company has to abide by many conditions to meet neighborhood concerns.

Retiring Supervisor Dorothy Jaeckle says she took residents concerns seriously about noise and extra traffic coming into the Bermuda district neighborhood. But she says after touring the site with other board members and visiting similar sites, she thinks Carvana has met all the requirements.

“I did understand the citizens concerns but I feel like this is a closed operation and won’t have the kind of impacts that an open garage would.”

Jaeckle added a substitute condition for Carvana. She requested that any real estate tax revenue generated by the project go toward road improvements.

The project had already been deferred once to give residents more time to give input on site.
