Henrico County will be sending school buses loaded with food and supplies into neighborhoods facing shortages this weekend.

The buses were being packed up at Newbridge Learning Center and sent on their way to people who are isolated from the usual distribution sites.

Adrienne Cole Johnson, Director of Family and Community Engagement said it began as an extension of the school backpack program, but with 40 thousand dollars raised just this week by the Henrico Education Foundation, they are delivering the meals to children and any family that needs it. Says Johnson, "We are preparing to get out 1200 weekend bags to families we know need us the most."

You can donate at Henricogives.org. They say they aren’t turning down anybody.
