Charlottesville, Va. - Fans of the British period drama “Poldark,” featuring Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson, have been eagerly awaiting the brooding hero’s return for the show’s fifth and final season. Area viewers can catch a free advanced screening of the Season 5 premiere at The Paramount Theater in Charlottesville on Sept. 27 at 8 p.m., two days before the national TV premiere on PBS.
“We had a wonderful time at last year's ‘Poldark’ screening at The Paramount,” said Terri Allard, VPM’s Charlottesville Community Engagement Manager. “The audience was excited to be there, the guest speaker was excellent and Ross Poldark -- the standee --was on hand before and after the event for photo ops. He was quite popular! We're looking forward to doing it all again this year in celebration of the fifth and final season of ‘Poldark.’ ”
The event will kick off with remarks by historian Trevor Burnard (full bio attached) who will present a brief history of early nineteenth-century Britain, its empire, and the town of Cornwall, which together comprise the backdrop for the final season of "Poldark."
Registration information for the screening on Sept. 27 is available at vpm.org/events.
Watch the Season 5 premiere of “Poldark” on Masterpiece Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. on VPM PBS.
