SPARC Celebrates Inclusion with LIVE ART Documentary

SPARC
SPARC, Martin Montgomery Films

Emmy Award-winning director Martin Montgomery captures the magic of SPARC and its 2019 LIVE ART event in the film LIVE ART: FAMILY premiering April 16 at 9 p.m. on VPM PBS.  The performance united 200 inspiring youth with acclaimed guest artists including Jason Mraz, Hanson, MILCK, Kori Withers, Desiree Roots and Joel Rafael for a concert experience celebrating inclusion and ability.

The program features excerpts from a public performance in Richmond’s Altria Theater, filmed in front of a live audience of over 3,400, as well as documentary stories about the students and their lives beyond the classroom.

LIVE ART: FAMILY amplifies the message of inclusion and re-imagines the deep value of human connection. LIVE ART is SPARC’s inclusive arts program that celebrates students with and without disabilities.

Each year, LIVE ART students build friendships, communication skills, and an appreciation of each other's differences while rehearsing in a variety of visual and performing arts classes. LIVE ART is an expression of SPARC's commitment to the movement of inclusion, creating a culture of compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy that students carry with them into their community.
