Circle Time at Home: "Hickory Dickory Dock"

teacher with flash cards

Home Learning | Circle Time at Home

Hickory, Dickory, Dock is a well-known English nursery rhyme starting with words that imitate the traditional clock-like sounds. This rhyme can be used to introduce children to the skill of telling time. A local educator teaches the rhyme with a follow up rhyme sorting game using pictures of objects that rhyme. Rhyming helps young children learn about words, sounds, and language formation. Hearing and repeating rhymes helps children develop early literacy skills and is important for early brain development. Play a rhyme recognition game with puppet Jenny and sing and move with Hickory, Dickory, Dock. Grades: Preschool and Kindergarten.
