The Associated Press (AP) called Virginia for former Vice President Joe Biden at 7:36 p.m.,  shortly after the polls closed. Mail-in ballots are still being processed, impacting results for localities. The AP uses various metrics including exit polls, results from this year’s primaries, and past election cycles to determine results.
