VPM earns 4 awards at NETA Annual Public Media Awards Gala

VPM brought home four public media honors at the  53rd Annual Public Media Awards Gala that took place on Tuesday, January 25. The National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) celebrated public media achievements of the past year at the 2022 NETA Conference and CPB Public Media Thought Leader Forum. 

VPM’s four-part series  RACISM: CHALLENGING PERCEPTIONS won in the Community Engagement/Community Initiative category. The series explores the social, cultural and economic impact of racism throughout the United States.  

SEIZING FREEDOM won in the Content/Podcast category. The podcast explores the personal history of Black Americans and their struggle to define freedom after 400 years of slavery.  

Season 2 of  LEGACY LIST WITH MATT PAXTON won in the Content/Arts & Entertainment category. A production of VPM,  MY Entertainment and  Shipyard Entertainment, the series airs on public television stations across the country and follows Paxton and a team of experts who help families downsize their homes while preserving treasured items and memories.  

VPM, director Martin Montgomery and producer David E. Powers of  Belltower Pictures also won in the Independent Production category for  HEARD, a documentary that captures the inspiring stories of five people who grew up in “the projects,” surviving and thriving in spite of, and often because of, the challenges they've had to overcome.
