The VPM News team recently won two awards from the Public Media Journalists Association (PMJA). The annual awards recognize the best work in public media journalism from across the country. Stations compete against others with similar-sized newsrooms.
“We are incredibly proud of our deserving and hard-working news team,” said VPM News Director Elliott Robinson. “Their diligent work was on display all throughout the last year and especially during the 2021 Virginia election cycle. We couldn’t be happier to see their work be recognized by PMJA.”
The award-winning coverage from the VPM News team includes:
Continuing Coverage, First Place in Division A (News Staff of 8 to 15): Continuing Coverage - 2021 Virginia elections
Investigative Reporting, Second Place in Division A (News Staff of 8 to 15): Columnist earned over $260k from Dominion while writing newspaper by Ben Paviour
PMJA supports, empowers and advocates for journalists working in public media. In that endeavor, they seek to foster high ethical standards in the practice of journalism through the creation of more training and networking opportunities, increased diversity in public media, working to promote environments that are free of discrimination and harassment and much more.
