VPM earned two public media honors at the 54th Annual Public Media Awards Gala that took place on Sunday, September 18 during the 2022 NETA Conference and CPB Public Media Thought Leader Forum.
The Public Media Awards honor NETA members' finest work in community engagement, content, education, marketing/communications, independent productions, and overall excellence. The awards were judged by a group of expert panelists from within the public media system, as well as industry professionals working outside of public media.
VPM NEWS FOCAL POINT won in the News & Public Affairs category. Hosted by award-winning journalist Angie Miles, FOCAL POINT debuted in February and is a weekly half-hour show framing statewide news through a lens of in-depth reporting on culture, politics, business, health, the environment, race, science and the arts.
VPM also won an award for its Integrated Media Campaign that helped launch FOCAL POINT. VPM was a finalist in four other categories, including:
