RVA's Got Issues (RGI) is back for a fresh look at some of the biggest issues making news in the Greater Richmond area. Host Rich Meagher returns for season two with new guests to explore the recent water crisis in Richmond and other challenges facing the Richmond region’s cities and counties. Season two of RGI is set to premiere on Feb. 12 and will shift to a new weekly schedule with the latest installment.

“I'm thrilled that we're back! Our team identified so many important issues that we couldn't get to last season, from sports tourism to evictions to public art,” said Rich. “I'm especially excited this season to sit down with key local officials, as well as other guests, and share some of our listeners' questions.”

Season two will explore a new batch of topics, including Richmond’s high eviction rate, the economic boost generated by RVA’s Sports Tourism industry and more. Listeners will be able to hear from several guests, such as Hamilton Glass, co-producer of Mending Walls: The Documentary and founder of the Mending Walls Project and author/professor Thad Williamson, to name a few.

RVA residents will hear from Mayor Danny Avula, Richmond Public Schools superintendent Jason Kamras and Henrico County Manager John Vithoulkas. Rich will also look at the state of the State legislative session with Michael Pope, host of The Virginia Press Room podcast.

In addition to featured topics and interviews with newsmakers who have their finger on the pulse of what’s happening across RVA, the show will also continue its Community Spotlight segment, which shines a light on people helping others across RVA.

Ever wanted to leave a recorded question for Rich and the RGI team? Now you can! New this season is RGI’s voicemail hotline, which allows audience members to leave voicemails and questions for Rich to potentially answer in future episodes. To leave a message, just call (804) 560-8108.

“The producers, Rich and I are excited about this next season of in-depth conversations,” said executive producer Meg Lindholm. “We're also excited to hear the concerns and questions listeners call in with for the public officials who will be guests on the show.”

The first season of RVA’s Got Issues (RGI) explored many significant topics in the city of Richmond. From interviews with each Richmond mayoral candidate, to renewable energy projects in RVA, as well as budgeting, schooling and more, host Rich Meagher and the RGI team provided audiences with insight around some of Richmonders’ biggest questions.

RVA’s Got Issues delves into the politics and big issues defining life in and around Richmond, Virginia. What’s being done to keep housing affordable? How do we combat gun violence? Will longer school years resolve decades-long education gaps? Rich Meagher connects with guests to discuss the past, present, and future impact of these questions so you know what’s happening in the news.
