Did you know that 90% of a child's brain develops by the age of 5? This is why it’s so important for children to have early, positive interactions that make a lasting difference in their lives. VPM is excited to partner with the Robins Foundation and Thrive Birth to Five to launch a new initiative that stresses the importance and value of a child’s earliest days of learning for overall family wellbeing.
“The When… Then… messaging campaign and corresponding 90by5 landing page, stems from the objective that 90% of a child's brain develops by the age of 5,” explained Mary Jo Grieve, VPM’s Director of Early Childhood Care and Education. “The goal is to develop key messaging around how the smallest interactions can influence future learning.”
Some of the messages from the initiative include:
- “When you share what’s yours, then they learn to share what’s theirs.”
- “When you encourage your child, then they learn resilience.”
- “When you respond to your child’s needs, then they learn to trust.”
- “When you listen to your child, then they learn that their voice matters.”
Parenting and caregiving is challenging, often causing parents and caregivers to be less intentional about their daily interactions with their children. But the foundation of a child's future is being set through these daily actions. Throughout the campaign, parents and caregivers will have access to a series of scenarios to visualize the future impact of their daily steps and actions. We will also be sharing support resources for families to access.
