The VCUarts Department of Theatre and Department of Music are partnering on a special concert this weekend, bringing to the stage Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Something Wonderful." Singers from both departments will be joined by the VCU Symphony, conducted by Daniel Myssyk. The concert features music from some of the most beloved musicals of the past century, including "The Sound of Music," "South Pacific," "The King and I," "Oklahoma" and "Carousel." Performances are this weekend, Saturday evening at 7:30 and Sunday afternoon at 2:00 (Friday evening's performance is sold out).

Kikau Alvaro is the Head of Musical Theatre and Assistant Professor at VCU. He stopped by our studios to chat with me about these exciting performances and what he envisions for the future of VCU Theatre.

Yours in good music,
Mike Goldberg Classical Music Host, WCVE Music
