Korean violinist Inmo Yang is in town to perform on the Richmond Symphony's season opening concerts this weekend. In March 2015, he won the 54th International Violin Competition “Premio Paganini” in Genoa, Italy, marking the first time since 2006 that the Paganini Competition jury awarded First Prize. Now his burgeoning career takes him all over the world as a guest soloist and we're thrilled he's here in Richmond this week.
The performances are at the Carpenter Theatre Saturday evening at 8:00 and Sunday afternoon at 3:00. Best known as one of Leonard Bernstein's pupil's, conductor Marin Alsop is returning to Richmond. She was once Associate Conductor of the Richmond Symphony before making her mark as Music Director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The program features music of Zemlinsky, Brahms and Stravinsky, with Inmo Yang performing the Paganini Violin Concerto No. 1.
Listen in as I chat with Inmo and he performs some Bach for us!
Yours in good music,
Mike Goldberg Classical Music Host, VPM Music
