The Richmond Ballet will open its 2019-2020 season with performances at the Carpenter Theatre this weekend. The program, titled "Contemporary Classics," features the Richmond premiere of George Balanchine's "Theme and Variations" and the return of John Butler's powerful work "Carmina Burana."
The dancers will be joined by the Richmond Symphony & Chorus, as well as the VCU Commonwealth Singers, all led by Erin Freeman. Valerie Tellmann-Henning stopped by our studios with dancer Maggie Small, who is retiring after these performances. I hope you enjoy our chat about "Contemporary Classics!"
