Let's go to the “Roadhouse” for some great blues tunes

Legendary Blues Band and The Fabulous Thunderbirds
We’ve got a little something from the Legendary Blues Band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and more!

Henry Cook and I hope you will join us this Saturday night, April 30th, at 9:00, as we take a field trip to the nearest Roadhouse for some rowdy, rough and tumble tunes perfect for a Saturday night’s listening.

If you’ve ever seen the Patrick Swayze classic movie “Roadhouse” you know the kind of place we’re talking about. Or even The Blues Brothers when they play Bob’s Country Bunker. If you’re a musician who has ever played behind chicken wire or had to duck beer bottles while playing anything loud, you were in a roadhouse!

We’ve got lots of great bands to share with you. You want to hear ZZ Top? We’ve got ‘em for you. How about Creedence Clearwater Revival? We’ve got them too. Rockers like George Thorogood, The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band, and Stevie Ray Vaughan? Them too!

Oh, but there is so much more.

We’ve got a little something from the Legendary Blues Band – and there’s a reason they were able to call themselves that. Don’t miss their entry from Red, Hot ‘n Blue! And you won’t want to miss the one and only Fabulous Thunderbirds from their Benchmark disc, What’s The Word?

Since this is a show that Henry put together, you know it’s cool, you know it’s retro, and you know there’s a good chance we’ll be taking a trip across the pond. Yup, you just hit the trifecta with songs from Dr. Feelgood and Dave Edmunds.

But wait, there’s still more. We’ve even got a recent release from our new pal Tommy Castro off his newest disc and album on Alligator, Tommy Castro Presents A Bluesman Comes To Town.

There’s even one more song, one that just may be the ultimate roadhouse classic. What is it? Guess you’ll just have to step through those doors and join us Saturday night to find out.

We’ll be glad to have your company if you care to join us at 9:00 this Saturday night. That’s April 30th, and you can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 89.1 WCNV, Northern Neck; 90.1 WMVE, Chase City; and the flagships, 93.1 and 107.3 VPM-Music and 88.9 HD2, Richmond, where it’s always Time For The Blues!
