In Your Ear Episode 69: A reunion of Page Wilson’s Reckless Abandon band members

It’s been a couple of years since JAMinc’s produced an In Your Ear radio show. The pandemic kept artists home and our Studio A sacred space was way too confined to allow any social distancing at all. We just shut down for a while, then tried live-streaming with no audience for a few shows and then began a great relationship with Hardywood Craft Brewery, giving us access to their Scott’s Addition Barrel Room. That’s where we recorded this loving reunion of members of Page Wilson’s band Reckless Abandon.

In June and July of 2021, JAMinc aired an 8-week series called Page’s Kitchen here on VPM, that featured prominent artists Page would lure into his Chickahominy Swamp kitchen for gumbo, conversation and some unforgettable live performances.

JAMinc kicked off the new season with Bill Lux, Charles Arthur, Chris Fuller and Jim Skelding - the surviving members of Reckless Abandon - along with some very special friends of Page, like Susan Greenbaum, Janet Martin, Bruce Olsen and Carlos Chafin. It was a fitting tribute to the road tired, wired and ready Page Wilson from his long-time bandmates, recorded on September 29th, 2021.

JAMinc's In Your Ear concert series presents a wide range of both rising and established artists in an engaging live environment. All the shows were staged and well-recorded in Studio A, until the pandemic prohibited that kind of proximity. Some of this new season of programs were live-streamed for the first time from Studio A with NO audience. You can watch those streams in their entirety here...others were held in Hardywood Brewing's Barrel Room in Scott's Addition. The concert series dates back to 2004 and we're grateful to Carlos Chafin, Andrea Bucheit and Paul Bruski at In Your Ear for their enduring partnership and commitment to live music in our community. We'd also like to thank Catherine Poston and Kevin Willoughby at Hardywood for providing us with such an inviting alternative venue. JAMinc president Tim Timberlake produces and hosts the programs covering a wide range of genres including bluegrass, folk, jazz, blues, old time, Celtic, gospel and singer-songwriters of many styles. Concerts are typically held monthly except during the summer...check our website for information and reservations: jaminc.org/events.
