Guitarist, singer and interpreter of the music we call the blues, Elizabeth Wise was born in Virginia and currently calls RVA home. But she's traveled the world inhaling that music wherever she finds herself. Her career now spans more than a decade of performing professionally in bars, clubs, and living rooms as well as on festival stages up and down the East Coast. Listening to, learning from, and living with the music that inspires her and sharing her passion for great songs and good times, you’ll find her in solo settings with an acoustic guitar and in more raucous environs backed by a full band as she had for this show, recorded in Hardywood Brewing’s Barrel Room on October 27th, 2021. Joining Elizabeth, was an A-list collection of some of RVA’s best musicians: Rusty Farmer (bass), Scott Milstead (drums), Daniel Clarke and Carlos Chafin (keyboards), J.C. Kuhl (sax), Toby Whitaker (trombone) and Bob Miller (trumpet).
The second half of this show features Sicilian-born finger-style guitarist Peppino D’Agostino recorded in Studio A before the Covid shut down in December of 2019. He’s toured in more than 30 countries and his record Every Step of the Way was voted one of the top three albums of all time by the readers of Acoustic Guitar Magazine.
JAMinc's In Your Ear concert series presents a wide range of both rising and established artists in an engaging live environment. All the shows were staged and well-recorded in Studio A, until the pandemic prohibited that kind of proximity. Some of this new season of programs were live-streamed for the first time from Studio A with NO audience. You can watch those streams in their entirety here...others were held in Hardywood Brewing's Barrel Room in Scott's Addition. The concert series dates back to 2004 and we're grateful to Carlos Chafin, Andrea Bucheit and Paul Bruski at In Your Ear for their enduring partnership and commitment to live music in our community. We'd also like to thank Catherine Poston and Kevin Willoughby at Hardywood for providing us with such an inviting alternative venue. JAMinc president Tim Timberlake produces and hosts the programs covering a wide range of genres including bluegrass, folk, jazz, blues, old time, Celtic, gospel and singer-songwriters of many styles. Concerts are typically held monthly except during the summer...check our website for information and reservations: jaminc.org/events.
