The Grammy-winning chamber choir The Crossing has released a new album "Born," which features the music of Edie Hill and Michael Gilbertson. The recording has been described as "an expedition into themes of extinction, relationships, loss, and love."
The title of the release comes from one of the works by Gilbertson. His "Born" and "Returning" address the complexities of our intimate relationships. Building off of that is Hill's "Spectral Spirits," which paints a colorful study of recently extinct birds and their interaction with humans. The Crossing describes the piece as a “memorial to lost birds,” structured in four pillars representing four bird species that are extinct.
