Henry Cook and I hope you will join us for Time For The Blues this Saturday evening, September 3rd at 9:00 as we present a classic episode from the past. We’ll revisit the great Canadian group Downchild, as they unleash their 50th Anniversary Album that they recorded live at the Toronto Jazz Festival.

So very few groups stay together for that length of time, and they have managed to do so while keeping their quality level high. Downchild was an inspiration for Dan Aykroyd when he was envisioning the Blues Brothers, so if you are not familiar with Downchild but know and love the Blues Brothers, let me assure you that you will love these guys as well.

But that’s just one part of our program for this week. We’ve got a guy who shreds guitars like a man on a mission. Walter Trout is still kicking it and there are very few young players who can keep up with him. We’ve got a few tracks from his previous release (he has a brand new one out, but I haven’t picked it up – yet) and you’ll see what we mean when we say he is among the best players alive.

There’s more from Lisa Mills, Ryan Perry, Scott Ellison, Lisa Mann and Malaya Blue.

All in all, it’s a great show and we would love to have you join us for the fun if you care to join us at 9:00 this Saturday night. That’s August 20th, and you can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 89.1 WCNV, Heathsville; 90.1 WMVE, Chase City; and the flagships, 93.1 and 107.3 VPM-Music and 88.9 HD2, Richmond, and streaming online at VPM.org where it’s always Time For The Blues!
