No tricks, just treats on Time For The Blues!

jack-o-lantern and guitar
We really enjoy Halloween and have we got some blues numbers for you to help celebrate.

Henry Cook and I hope you will join us this Saturday night, October 29, at 9:00 as we present a classic Halloween episode of Time For The Blues! The two of us really enjoy the holiday and have we got some blues numbers for you to help you celebrate.

The blues has a long tradition of songs about devils, evil women, and hellhounds on the trail and we’ve got some of them along with other seasonally related numbers that will surely set the mood for the ghosties and ghoulies that will soon be knocking at your door.

Who will we feature you ask?

How about Koko Taylor with a Willie Dixon classic? We’ve also got B.B. King with his take on songs by Blind Lemon Jefferson and Lonnie Johnson.

Of course, Eric Clapton will be dropping by with his take on one of Robert Johnson’s greatest songs. And there will be more classics from James Cotton and Skip James.

Nina Simone will make an appearance and smooth out Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ best known number.

We have very few traditions around Time For The Blues World Headquarters, but one that we do have is Mike Bloomfield, Al Kooper, and Steve Stills combining their stupendous talents on Donovan’s Season Of The Witch. You won’t want to miss that session, it’s super!

Plus there are sides from John Vosel and the Boogie Monsters (or is that the BOOgie Monsters?) and Bob Malone!

All in all, it’s a great show and we would love to have you join us for the fun if you care to join us at 9:00 this Saturday night. That’s October 29th, and you can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 89.1 WCNV, Heathsville; 90.1 WMVE, Chase City; and the flagships, 93.1 and 107.3 VPM-Music and 88.9 HD2, Richmond, and streaming online at VPM.org where it’s always Time For The Blues!
