Two all-time guitar greats on the next TFTB
Henry Cook and I hope you will join us this Saturday night, December 17th, as we drop another classic Time For The Blues episode that features two of the all-time guitar greats for you!
First up out of the gate is Irish musician Rory Gallagher, who, during his lifetime was widely considered to be the best of the best. No less a guitar genius than Jimi Hendrix considered Gallagher as one of the best to ever strum a six-string. Gallagher was at home in the blues as well as rock and we have several numbers from his collection The Best Of Rory Gallagher.
You won’t want to miss these takes, he really is a guitar giant.
Speaking of giants, one of the best working today is Joe Bonamassa and we’ve got tracks from one of his most recent albums, Royal Tea, for you as well. Bonamassa has been lighting up stages for some time and while no disc can fully capture his intensity, this one is pretty close. We think you’re going to enjoy it.
But you know we’ve got more for you.
How about a couple of harp masters in Charlie Musselwhite and William Clarke? We wanted to find a couple of players who could stand toe-to-toe with these guitar greats and settled on Musselwhite and Clarke for you.
And there’s still more.
We have recent releases from A Band Called Sam, Dianne Davidson with Ruthie Foster, and Jeremiah Johnson.
All in all, it’s a great show and we would love to have you join us for the fun if you care to join us at 9:00 this Saturday night. That’s December 17th, and you can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 89.1 WCNV, Heathsville; 90.1 WMVE, Chase City; and the flagships, 93.1 and 107.3 VPM-Music and 88.9 HD2, Richmond, and online at VPM.org where it’s always Time For The Blues!
