Cellist Schuyler Slack featured on the Richmond Symphony Metro Series

Schuyler Slack and Steven Snowden
Richmond Symphony & Lauren Nelson

The upcoming Richmond Symphony Metro Series concerts will feature the string section led by Music Director Valentina Peleggi in Bela Bartok's Divertimento, as well as works by contemporary composers Martin Bauer and Christopher Theofanidis. Of special note, cellist Schuyler Slack will present Steven Snowden's "This Mortal Frame" for cello and electronics, accompanied by the composer. This is a piece commissioned by Slack and Snowden saw the opportunity to create a new piece of music "celebrating the courage and tenacity of one of Richmond's most historically significant residents," Henry Box Brown.

Listen in as I discuss the history of the commission with Schuyler and Steven. Performances for this Metro Series concert take place:
Friday, January 20 at 7:30pm - Perkinson Center for the Arts & Education (Chesterfield)
Saturday, January 21 at 7:30pm - Louis F. Ryan Recital Hall at St. Christopher's School (Richmond)
Sunday, January 22 at 3:00pm - Blackwell Auditorium at Randolph-Macon College (Ashland)

Yours in good music,
