Third Coast Percussion and Flutronix

The Grammy Award-winning Third Coast Percussion will join forces with the duo Flutronix for a performance at the University of Richmond this weekend. The program features solo sets by each ensemble in addition to their new co-created work "Rubix." The Wall Street Journal hails Flutronix for their “unique blend of classical music, hip-hop, electronic programming, and soulful vocals reminiscent of neo-R&B stars like Erykah Badu,” while the Minneapolis Star Tribune praises Third Coast Percussion for “an inspirational sense of fun and curiosity.”

Percussionist/composer David Skidmore and flutist/vocalist/composer Nathalie Joachim joined me to discuss both group's various musical talents and styles, as well as what our audience can expect this weekend. The performance is Sunday (2/19) at 3pm in the Modlin Center for the Arts and we'll have a pre-concert talk beginning at 2pm.

Yours in good music,
Mike Goldberg
