After winning the Menuhin Competition in 2021, violinist María Dueñas is already acclaimed as one of the leading virtuosos of her generation. She'll be the guest soloist in the Richmond Symphony's weekend concerts in the Carpenter Theatre at Dominion Energy Center. Maria will perform Édouard Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole, and Valentina Peleggi will lead the orchestra in a new work by young Mexican composer Juan Pablo Contreras, along with the Symphony No. 3 by Johannes Brahms.

Valentina and Maria joined me to preview the performances on "An Hour with the Richmond Symphony," which airs on VPM Music every Friday at 5pm and Sunday at 7pm. The Symphony Series concerts take place Saturday evening (2/25) at 8pm and Sunday afternoon (2/26) at 3pm, with pre-concert talks one hour before each performance.

Yours in good music,
Mike Goldberg
Classical Host, VPM Music
