Hello Time For The Blues Fanatics!

Henry Cook and I hope you will join us this Saturday night, August 3rd, at 9:00 as we will once again take to the airwaves with another exciting episode of Time For The Blues!

As we move into August, we’re finding little relief from the heat, and we’ve got some hot music that we think you’re going to like. Up first in our spotlight set, we’ve got something new from an electrifying guitarist, Chris Cain, who has a brand-new album out on Alligator. You know what we always say, “If it’s on Alligator, it’s got bite!”

Okay, we’ve never said that in our lives, but we might as well, given the gold standard that they have set for 50-plus years. Cain has got some flying fingers and he shows them off while playing. We’ve got some sides from his latest release, plus one from a 2021 release also on Alligator.

On one of the tracks we’re going to play, Cain is joined by our pal Tommy Castro and Kid Andersen. Both of whom are great six-string samurais and the combination of these three artists will drive you wild.

The fun is just beginning as our second spotlight set focuses on the songwriting genius of Otis Blackwell. You may not recognize the name but you surely will recognize the songs. He wrote for just about every one who was anyone who rocked the 1950s. Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis were just two of the artists who recorded songs by this great tunesmith.

Now, a new generation puts their spin on these songs and we’re going to share some with you. Kick back and enjoy great songs from the likes of Joe Louis Walker, Willie DeVille, Joe Ely, Sue Foley, Marcia Ball, and The Smithereens.

You’ll say, “Thank you very much…”

We also have some new material from Toronzo Cannon and our pal Albert Castiglia as well as some more Retro Unusual Suspects, but if I told you who they were, it would ruin the surprise!

All that and a few surprises to boot! All in all, it’s a great show and we would love to have you join us for the fun if you care to join us at 9:00 this Saturday night. That’s August 3rd and you can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 89.1 WCNV,
