The Richmond Symphony opens the 2024-25 season this weekend with "Strad Fest," a four day festival celebrating the most mysterious and coveted instruments in the orchestral word - Stradivari violins. These instruments were hand-crafted between 1685 and 1725 by Antonio Stradivari and each instrument has its own unique sound.
Attendees can enjoy multiple concerts and lectures by world-renowned luthier Sofia Vettori. The season opening gala concert and dinner "ExSTRADvaganza" will be held Friday evening. Special guest Itzhak Perlman will perform on the "Cinema Serenade" Saturday at 5pm and spend an afternoon sharing stories and music with the audience Sunday afternoon at 3pm.
I recently sat down with Music Director Valentina Peleggi to find out more about this special weekend. I hope you enjoy our chat!
Yours in good music,
