JAMinc Presents: Sherman Holmes Project

Sherman Holmes Project
JAMinc
Sherman Holmes performing with blues and gospel artists

We’re excited to share one of the most moving nights of music we’ve ever witnessed after nearly 20 years of live concerts. In partnership with Virginia Folklorist Jon Lohman, now heading the Center or Cultural Vibrancy, JAMinc Presents brought together Christchurch Virginia’s Sherman Holmes, the soul survivor of the revered Holmes Brothers, since the late seventies comprised of his brother Wendell and drummer Popsy Dixon. Jon invited some of Richmond’s blues and gospel royalty to join Sherman that night in the Mary Munford school auditorium…Almeta Ingram-Miller and her sister-in-law Carrie Jackson from the Legendary Ingramettes, along with their versatile guitarist Jared Pool. Sherman also welcomed RVA blues harp master Andrew Alli and the powerhouse piano and vocals of the Rev. Cora Harvey Armstrong. It quickly became clear that these instinctive and inspiring musicians found a strong and striking common ground that night recorded in late May of 2023, as JAMinc Presents… the Sherman Holmes Project.
