The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia is presenting two October concerts, "A Richmond Cabaret" and "Swept Away." The first is a free concert in the Richmond Public Library on Saturday, October 12th at 2pm. It features commissions by Virginia composers Emily Graham, Zachary Wadsworth, Riley Peters, Betsy Podsiadlo, and Donovan Williams. The second performance is on Monday, October 14th at 7pm in the First Unitarian Universalist Church on Blanton Avenue in Richmond. This concert features a variety of works, including Jake Heggie's dramatic work for voice, actor and ensemble “For a Look or a Touch."
I recently sat down with Artistic Director James Wilson and composer Betsy Podsiadlo, who give us a preview of these unique concerts.
Yours in good music,
Mike Goldberg
