Well, Henry Cook and I were off last Saturday night to make room for the Opening Night At The Richmond Symphony, and we spent it watching sports and old movies. Time For The Blues returns this Saturday night at 9:00 for another hour of slam bang excitement, thrills, and bad jokes.
Are the jokes really that bad, or are they just misunderstood?
Don’t ponder the question too long, just focus on the great music,
This week, aside from new work from Selwyn Birchwood and the Memphis Royal Brothers, we’re setting up the wayback machine to explore the time when we were subscribed to a music service called e-music.
Henry will give a good explanation of what e-music was to us and how it helped us launch this incredible juggernaut of a blues program. We’ve got music from Chuck Berry, our friend Albert Castiglia, Joe Bonamassa with Beth Hart, Ben Harper with our pal Charlie Musselwhite, The Hoochie Coochie Men with John Lord, James Carr, The Treniers, Frank Zappa and The Mothers Of Invention, The Rolling Stones, The Steve Miller Band, and the one and only Buddy Guy.
It’s one of the fastest hours of radio and we hope that you will join us for the fun. All that and a few surprises to boot! All in all, it’s a great show and we would love to have you join us for the fun if you care to join us at 9:00 this Saturday night. That’s October 26th, and you can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 89.1 WCNV, Heathsville; 90.1 WMVE, Chase City; and the flagships, 93.1 and 107.3 VPM-Music and 88.9 HD2, Richmond, and online at VPM.org where it’s always Time For The Blues!
