Virginia Opera returns to the Carpenter Theatre stage this weekend with their production of Georges Bizet's "Carmen." It's one of the most famous operas ever written, a tale about love, obsession and jealousy. "Bold, uninhibited, and strong-willed, Carmen lives life on her own terms. She is brave, beautiful, and independent. She does what she wants. She falls in and out of love. She is a power to behold until her obsessed ex violently and tragically rejects her choice to move on."
I recently caught up with Artistic Director Adam Turner and soprano Sarah Tucker, who plays the role of Micaëla in this production. Performances are Friday evening, November 22nd at 7:30pm and Sunday afternoon, November 24th at 2:30pm.
Yours in good music,
