Hello Blues Fans and welcome to the Holiday edition of Time For The Blues. Henry and I hope that this year finds you healthy and in good spirits no matter what holiday you choose to observe, or even if you don’t, we still wish you all the happiness of the season.

Santa Blues came early this year and he and Henry worked together to create a fun and exciting show for you this week. So, if you’re not out cruising the malls or rummaging through and on-line shopping service, be sure to tune into the show this Saturday night, December 21st at nine to hear what we’ve been cooking up!

All of the songs during the hour revolve around the holidays, so, if you’re some kind of modern day Scrooge, you might want to turn down your radio unless you want to be overtaken by the Ghost of Christmas Blues…

We’ve got holiday cheer from the likes of Clifford Curry, Ben Levin (with a little help from Lil’ Jimmy Reed and Candice Ivory) from his latest album from Vizztone, plus a couple from our friends, Roomful Of Blues!

There’s more from The Rockin’ Highliners, Little Charlie & The Nightcats, and Lew Jetton and 61 South.

But that’s not all. You can trim the tree while listening to Mike Zito, Big Joe Turner, and The Reverend Shawn Amos.

And since New Year’s isn’t far behind, how about making your New Year’s resolutions to the sound of Otis Redding and Carla Thomas?

Lastly, but never leastly, we have our holiday tradition of Marvin Gaye’s Purple Snowflakes in honor of my late brother who gifted us with several hundred blues CDs when he left this plain for the next.

So, you’re probably staying up late anyway, so why not let us be the soundtrack to your present wrapping, or card sending, or you’re just relaxing. It’s Saturday night, the 21st of December, at nine o’clock and you can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 89.1 WCNV, Heathsville; 90.1 WMVE, Chase City; and the flagships, 93.1 and 107.3 VPM-Music and 88.9 HD2, Richmond, and online at VPM.org where it’s always Time For The Blues!
