Henry Cook and I hope you will join us this Saturday, February 15th, at nine o’clock as we celebrate Black History Month with a one-hour tribute to the legendary Buddy Guy. Henry and I know that we wouldn’t be able to do this show without the invention of or the proliferation of great African Americans and we try to honor them every week.

One of the artists we admire is Buddy Guy who is out touring with the Encore Leg of his Farewell Tour. Blues man Buddy Guy, still playing great at 88, is honored in a one-hour special by a panel of music writers, radio hosts, musicians, and fans. Their comments are mixed with classic performances by Buddy Guy, whom Eric Clapton called "the greatest guitar player alive." Guy was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 and awarded a Kennedy Center Honor in 2012.

Commentators include Chicago Tribune Music Critic Greg Kot, Music Author and Educator Aaron Cohen, Rolling Stone Magazine's Anthony DeCurtis, Public Radio DJs Putnay Thomas and Gregg McVicar, Music Video Producer Steve Pendlebury, and Chicago blues musician and singer/songwriter Melody Angel.

So, let’s get together and raise a toast to Buddy Guy and all the people who make the blues. It’s Saturday night, the 15th of February, at nine o’clock and you can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 89.1 WCNV, Heathsville; 90.1 WMVE, Chase City; and the flagships, 93.1 and 107.3 VPM-Music and 88.9 HD2, Richmond, and online at VPM.org where it’s always Time For The Blues!
