You can catch some local wind band music this weekend in the Altria Theater. "An Evening with the Richmond Pops" will take place Sunday evening, June 1st at 6:30 P.M., with VPM's John Porter serving as Master of Ceremonies.

The performance will feature favorites from the legendary film composer John Williams and the band's traditional Memorial Day musical tribute to the American Armed Forces. Guest soloists include vocalists Emma Potts and Pablo Talamante, and trumpeter David Moore. The concert is free to attend, but tickets are required.

I caught up with the ensemble's Music Director Earl Shaffer for a preview.
