This Presidents’ Day, in the aftermath of Virginia’s blackface scandals, community leaders and members marched to the state’s Capitol to once again urge Governor Ralph Northam to resign.
Demonstrators chanted and carried signs, calling for racial reconciliation in Virginia politics. The march follows Governor Northam’s refusal to resign, which resident Aaron Kemmerer says is preventing people of color in the community from healing.
"The past two weeks opened up a lot of racial trauma around us, because of the history of this area," says Kemmer.
