Virginia Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy is launching a political action committee to help elect Democrats around Virginia. She’s the second woman of color in the legislature to do so, signaling a possible statewide run for office.

Carroll Foy of Prince William County led efforts to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment in the House of Delegates during this year’s General Assembly Session. She says her PAC Virginia is for Everyone, aims to help the party gain control of both the House and Senate in this fall’s election.

“We have to win races across the state in order to get as many Democrats in leadership positions as we possibly can because we need to be where the decisions are being made in order to improve the lives of the most people.”

Carroll Foy says her PAC will not support candidates who accept campaign donations from Dominion Energy, an increasingly popular position among Democrats--including Senator Jennifer McClellan of Richmond, who launched the Virginia United PAC earlier this month.

Carroll Foy also says her focus is running against Republican Heather Mitchell this fall, but she isn’t ruling out a statewide run in 2021.
